Dunvegan, Duirinish, Waternish and Central Skye
Duirnish has one of Britain's most dramatic sections of coastline, from thousand foot high cliffs to beautiful coral sand beaches. Inland is a wild moorland where the strange flat-topped Macleod's Tables dominate the landscape.
Waternish is a smaller. more intimate peninsula. This area has been revived in recent years as many artists and craftspeople have moved to the area and set up studios. The centre is the tiny but picturesque village of Stein. The coast of Waternish offers less dramatic but easier walking.
The central part of Skye is a barren moorland, but its coastline has some suprising and fascinating delights for the visitor who is prepared to seek them out on foot.
