THE CUILLIN AND MINGINISH


Summary :	The simplest of the Minginish coast walks, this is still a very rough walk across boggy moorland terrain, with impressive cliff scenery.

1. Park near to the sharp U-bend beyond Fiskavaig village about a kilometre before the end of the road. A footpath heads off south here, signed for Talisker; the walk begins along it.

2. The path is clear but is boggy in parts, and runs almost level for a couple of kilometres. When it begins to descend towards Talisker farm in a series of zigzags, turn right off it and contour the boggy moorland, keeping just above the steep slopes. After about a kilometre, these steep slopes become the coastal cliffs. There are good views down to Talisker Bay and the sea stacks beyond. The walk continues along the edge of the cliff, and the going becomes easier with some firm, cropped grass.

3. At Rubha Curinn the coast turns north and climbs up to Sgurr Mhor. Continue to find the easiest route near the cliff edge for a couple of kilometres until the coast turns again at Rubha nan Clach. The next section is the most dramatic on this walk, with great plunging cliffs, several waterfalls and a fabulous view out over Loch Bracadale and its many islands. The downside is that there are three geos (rocky inlets) which each necessitate detours inland to cross, the first one being the worst.

4. After the third geo, climb the stile over the fence and continue straight east across the grassy field, abandoning the coast which here curves north to Gob na h-Oa. You should eventually come across a track which leads down to a gate near the end of the Fiskavaig road. Turn right along the road to return to the start.
