Isle of Skye Hostels and Bunkhouses

Overlooked by the spectacular Cuillin Mountains, Glenbrittle Youth Hostel is a great place to spend a few days. A fantastic base for walkers and climbers, or just sit back and enjoy this wonderful rugged scenery. You can see waterfalls, lochs, and the Islands of Rhum, Eigg, Muck, Soay, Canna and Uist, all without taking your hands out of your pockets!

Five adjacent, well equipped self-catering, hostels on a 12 acre croft with panoramic views of sea and mountains. Insulated wigwams and camping facilities also available. Within walking distance of pub and shop, the site is only 20 minutes drive from Glenbrittle or Sligachan and ideal for outdoor enthusiasts.

Originally the hub of postal communication for the Isle of Skye and the outside world, the old Post Office has been converted into an independent hostel that now draws people from around the globe. Sleeping 60 in smaller rooms with up to four beds, and dormitories sleeping 6, 10 and 12 (all linen and bedding is included in the price) there is a spacious kitchen / common room where you can exchange yarns whilst admiring the breathtaking view from the windows, a large t.v. lounge and a well-equipped launderette on site.

Broadford is an ideal centre for exploring the magical Isle of Skye. The famous Cuillin mountain range, just 15 miles away, is Scotland's ultimate challenge for serious walkers and climbers, whilst low-level walkers can enjoy several coastal walks. Plenty to do for walkers and tourists alike. The hostel offers good facilities including small family rooms and loads of local knowledge.

Dun Flodigarry is an independent, family-run hostel set in a magnificent location on the beautiful Trotternish Peninsula, the northernmost part of the Isle of Skye. The hostel is set by the sea and has wonderful views across to Flodigarry Island, Gairloch and the Torridon mountains on the mainland. Flodigarry was once the home of the Jacobite heroine Flora MacDonald, and the area is famous for the distinctive cliffs and rock formations of the Quiraing which towers above the hostel.

It is a Nature Conservancy area of special interest for bird watchers, botanists, geologists and archaeologists. Walkers and cyclists can enjoy unrestricted roads and paths all over the island. The east coast has cliffs and there are deep fissures on Beinn na Leac and Dun Caan. Why not try trout fishing on hill lochs?

The perfect base for exploring the southern peninsula, known as the 'Garden of Skye', this small and friendly hostel offers well-equipped, self-catering facilities with magnificent views to the rugged mountains of Knoydart. Good walks, seafood and wildlife watching opportunities locally.

Saucy Mary's Lodge. Many rooms have sea views. The lodge is positioned front-on to the sea overlooking Kyle of Lochalsh and in the heart of the village of Kyleakin.

Dunvegan hotel has two bunkhouses, each sleeping six.

The facilities include en-suite shower room / wc, full central heating, duvets on all beds, and tea / coffee making facilities. Please note that there are no cooking facilities in the bunkhouses.

Uig Hostel offers fantastic views over the bay, good facilities, including family rooms and a warm welcome. Uig is the gateway to the Outer Hebridean Islands and ferries leave daily.

Skye Backpackers overlooks the village square. It's a small cosy hostel with an open fire in the lounge and a lovely garden out the back. Our dormitory rooms have comfortable beds with clean fitted sheets and we also have a couple of double rooms.

Situated near the most famous Mountaineers' Hotel in Scotland, Sligachan Bunkhouse is an ideal location for walkers and climbers. Catering for parties of up to 20 people in four bedrooms - two sleep four and two sleep six. You can rent either the whole building or by the bed. It has all the essential facilities for the adventurous types.

Skyewalker Hostel is ideally situated for accessing the Cuillin Mountain range and offers real value for money. Enjoy home cooking in our fully licensed cafe/restaurant. We also have a shop, laundry and drying facilities.

Skyewalker Hostel hosts regular Scottish folk music sessions and it is also possible to book the whole place (40 beds) for special occasions such as birthdays, Munro completion parties, family get-togethers etc.
