Rubha Phoil woodland walk, Armadale
SLEAT AND SOUTHERN SKYE, ARMADALE TO KYLEAKIN
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1. From the car park turn right as you look out to sea following the sign for Rubha Phoil Woodland Walk. Go up the hill past the shop and display area and into the woodland garden. Here for a small donation, permaculture growing displays can be explored including information on composting, companion planting and medicinal plants. More information can be found here.
2. The path crosses an open area, keeping the farm gate on your left re-enter the woodland. Take the left fork signed 'Woodland walk to seal island' and pass some swings and treehouse in the woods. The path meanders through mixed woodland. Ignore a right hand turning and continue until the path opens out at a viewpoint with a curved seat overlooking an island populated with seals. A couple of steps down the path a small hide is reached.
3. Retrace your steps to the fork in the path and display of St. Johns Wort. Here take the left hand path through a living willow arch. The path continues through the woodland eventually returning to the original path leading back to the car park.
